Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Greninja Tera Raid Battle event dates & how to beat
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has shifted the focus to another starter Pokemon as Greninja received a Tera Raid Battle event. Here are the dates the Greninja Tera Raid will start along with how to beat it.
Kalos starter Pokemon Greninja has taken center stage in Scarlet and Violet as the focus of the current major 7 Star Tera Raid Battle event. Previously, players had the opportunity to catch a Charizard and Cinderace with the Mightiest Mark, and the starter Pokemon trend has continued.
Tera Raid Battle events can be a daunting task for Trainers, especially one with a 7 Star rating. To make things easier, here’s everything you need to know about the Greninja Tera Raid event in Scarlet and Violet including the dates and best Pokemon for the battle.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Greninja Tera Raid Battle dates
The first Greninja Tera Raid Battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet took place from January 27 to January 29 and the second one is running now from February 10 to February 12.
As with previous 7 Star Tera Raid Battles, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players have two sets of dates to take on the Poison Tera Type Greninja.
Greninja comes with the Mightiest Mark as players will only be able to catch one per save file. The battle against Greninja is not expected to be a walk in the park, but players up for a challenge must look for Black Tera Crystals across Paldea.

Greninja has excellent type coverage as its moveset consists of the following:
- Gunk Shot
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Night Slash
- Toxic Spikes
- Double Team
Toxicroak can prove a worthwhile ally. The Pokemon resists Poison and Dark-type moves and won’t take damage from Water-type attacks thanks to the Dry Skin ability. Using similar logic, Clodsire is also an excellent option. Water Absorb will keep it safe from Hydro Pump and it can dish out major damage with Earthquake.
If you tackled the Cinderace Tera Raid Battle and used the popular Slowbro and Stored Power strategy, the same one will work wonders against Greninja. Slowbro is powerful enough to tank several Night Slash attacks as Greninja is a Special Attacker.
Lastly, Gastrodon is a wonderful option as well, thanks to its Storm Drain ability. It can hit hard with Earth Power and its Clear Smog is incredibly useful to counter Greninja’s pesky Double Team.
Regardless of your Pokemon selection, make sure it’s level 90 or higher, with the right moveset and held item to take Greninja down. Terastallizing is also extremely important as it will allow you to deal maximum damage to Tera Raid Shields.
