MW3 Season 4: Release date, Kar98k, maps, modes, new Killstreaks, more
ActivisionHere’s everything we know about Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 including the release date, the return of classic weapons, new maps, modes, and more.
Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 was one of the biggest content drops yet and Season 4 is next up, bringing lots of new content to the latest entry in Activision’s legendary FPS franchise.
So, here’s everything arriving in the MW3 Season 4 update.
MW3 Season 4 release date
Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 will begin on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST with the patch notes arriving a couple of hours before.
New weapons in MW3 Season 4
Four new weapons arrive in Modern Warfare 3 Season 4:
- Superi 46 SMG (Battle Pass)
- Kar98k Marksman Rifle (Battle Pass)
- Reclaimer 18 Shotgun (Mid-Season)
- Sledgehammer Melee Weapon (Mid-Season)
The Superi 46 is a new SMG that boasts accuracy and recoil control while players will remember the Kar98k as the Rifle that dominated the early days of Warzone.
The Reclaimer 18 is actually the SPAS-12, a go-to Shotgun in the original MW2, and the Sledgehammer is a heavy-hitting melee weapon that likely won’t serve much use other than a bit of fun.
Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 maps
Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 brings three brand-new maps that aren’t remakes or areas cut from Warzone, as well as a Vortex Variant of Das Haus:
- Tokyo (Launch)
- Paris (Launch)
- Incline (Mid-Season)
- Das Gross (Mid-Season)
Tokyo and Paris are new 6v6 maps set in the titular cities. While you might expect the Paris map to crossover with the original MW3’s Resistance, this map appears to be an original new layout.
Incline, which arrives in the Season 4 Reloaded update, is set on a snowy mountainside in Urzikstan. It looks pretty similar to Vanguard’s Gondola map but is described as brand-new.
New modes
Demolition returns in MW3 Season 4 alongside a couple of brand-new modes:
- Demolition (Launch)
- Hyper Cranked (Launch)
- Havoc (Mid-Season)
- Headshots Only (Mid-Season)
- All Game Modes (Launch, In-Season)
Hyper Cranked is a new take on Cranked where instead of having to get a kill to begin the countdown and receive your bonuses, you’ll spawn in with it all already active. You’ll have to run directly at the action or you won’t even get a chance to fight.
Havoc and Headshots Only arrive in the Season 4 Reloaded update. Havoc returns from 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, adding random modifiers to a match of Team Deathmatch. And I hope I don’t have to explain Headshots Only.
Plus, a new version of Get High will arrive later in Season 4.
New Perks & Killstreaks in MW3 Season 4
Two new Perks and four new Killstreaks arrive in MW3 Season 4:
- Mission Control Vest Perk (Launch)
- Compression Plate Gear Perk (Launch)
- Intelligent Munitions Systems (I.M.S.) (Launch)
- Loitering Munition Killstreak (Launch)
- Missile Drone Killstreak (Launch)
- DNA Bomb Killstreak (Launch)
The Mission Control Vest is essentially Hardline, letting you earn Killstreaks in fewer kills, and the Compression Perk works the same as Quick Fix, letting you start regaining health immediately after a kill or while capturing objectives.
The I.M.S Killstreak is essentially a more powerful Bouncing Betty, firing an explosive up in the air which the devs said “then locks onto its target and propels towards them” when triggered.
Loitering Munition will hover over a selected area and will target the area with the most enemies when activated, and the Missile Drone is simply a pilotable drone that will fire guided missiles.
Finally, the DNA Bomb returns from Advanced Warfare. Although the number of kills hasn’t been confirmed, reaching that number without dying will allow you to eliminate all players on the other team but unlike the MGB Nuke, it won’t actually end the game.
MW3 Season 4 Zombies content
Not much Zombies content arrives in Modern Warfare 3 Season 4, and it’s not until the Season 4 Reloaded update anyway.
An ‘Unstable Rift’ will arrive in the mid-season update which appears to be a modified version of an existing rift, bringing you to a new area where you’ll have to battle a huge horde.
Obsidian camo returns
Modern Warfare 2019’s Obsidian camo returns as part of MW3’s Prestige camo system, but you’ll need to unlock the One Trick camo first.
