How many people are playing Fortnite right now?

At the time of writing over 1 Million players are playing Fortnite. You can check how many people are playing Fortnite through the game’s Discover menu which displays the number of active players under each mode.

The feature was added in March 2023 with the 24.10 update letting you explore the most popular game modes as well as estimate the queue times for each.

Over the years, the battle royale title has expanded drastically thanks to the introduction of Creative maps, LEGO, Rocket Racking, and No Build. While you can get the player count for all these modes separately, the developers do not release info regarding the game’s cumulative player count.

Is Fortnite dying?

Fortnite consistently maintains a player count of over 1 million when you consider all modes, which is enough to claim that it not dying by any means. Multiple third-party sources like Fortnite.GG and provide similar estimates implying that Epic Games’ BR is still one of the most-played games in the world.

According to Twitch Metrics, Fortnite is also one of the most watched and streamed games on Twitch and is continuing its glorious run in Chapter 5 Season 2.

What is Fortnite’s peak player count?

As per Fortnite.gg, the game’s peak player count in the last thirty days was around 2.7 million. Since the devs don’t share player count data regularly, we have to rely on third-party sources to get an estimate.

Fortnite’s peak concurrent player count of all time, though, is just over 11 million, which was achieved in December 2023. This was due to the launch of LEGO Fortnite which gained the attention of millions of new players and helped the battle royale break its previous peak player count (6.1 million) which was recorded just a month ago with Fortnite OG.

Big Bang is one of the most popular Fortnite events ever.

Do note that the numbers above represent the total number of players taking part in standard gameplay modes like BR, Creative, LEGO, and Rocket Racing. The peak player count is much bigger if you take live events into account. For example, the Big Bang live event that marked the end of Season OG boasted 11 million concurrent players.
