Baldur’s Gate 3 players explain why you should play Paladin in your next run

Paladin is one of the most popular class in Baldur’s Gate 3, and fans agree that you should give them a chance if you’ve never tried their skills against the Mind Flayers.
Larian Studios confirmed that the most used class in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Paladin, which is a type that most role-play players tend to gravitate to thanks to its apparently well-rounded initial stats. However, fans are intrigued about why users are choosing this class for their adventure against the Mind Flayers, despite some obvious advantages of other characters.
In a Reddit post called “Never tried Paladin, why so many chose it?,” Baldur’s Gate 3 players gathered to explain why everybody should go Paladin at least once, even when having a self-righteousness attitude that could easily sour most morally gray choices that the game presents.
Fans insist that the first reason why players should build a Paladin is there aren’t any “common” companions or origin characters of this class. “Other than Minthara (who most players probably won’t recruit on a first playthrough), you don’t get to recruit any other paladins without respeccing,” pointed out a player.
Of course, most players also insist that having a Charisma and Strength based character makes them infallible as the lead of any story, and a Paladin works great as a “party face”. Not only Paladins will be able to unlock most dialogue interactions, but could probably back up any bravado with their skills.
“CHA based for easy speech checks. Skillwise, they are a jack of all trades, master of most. Also some people are averse to overthinking, and prefer having a role-playing conviction to determine the choices they make in game,” read a comment.
Most Baldur’s Gate 3 players agreed that having the Smite ability made any Paladin fun to play, but besides that, their Bless skill and their proficiency against undead work great throughout the game.
“Gameplay-wise, they have flashy animations and insane burst damage when landing a crit on Divine Smite. They’re also relatively easy compared to something like a Monk because of the safety they get with Aura of Protection and heavy armor proficiency,” concluded a fan.
And that’s why Baldur’s Gate 3 players think you should try building a Paladin at least in one of your playthroughs. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, check which detail have players discovered about Astarion after 1000 hours, and how to save Duke Ravengard without Mizora.
