XDefiant is Ubisoft’s upcoming arena shooter that looks to compete with Call of Duty multiplayer, but will it have crossplay for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC? Here’s everything you need to know about XDefiant’s cross-platform and cross-progression status.

XDefiant is Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play multiplayer arena shooter for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The devs have aimed to create a competitive experience without skill-based matchmaking, but will XDefiant feature crossplay and cross-progression?

Here’s everything you need to know about XDefiant’s cross-platform status.

Is XDefiant crossplay for PC, PlayStation & Xbox?

XDefiant will feature crossplay for all platforms once it drops on May 21, 2024. This includes PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.

This means that, regardless of where you play, you will be able to party up and play against those on all the platforms that the game is available on. If you don’t wish for this you can switch it off. Unfortunately, the game is not arriving on PS4 or Xbox One.

How to turn off crossplay in XDefiant

You can turn crossplay off in the XDefiant settings for PlayStation and PC, but for Xbox, you’ll have to do it through the system settings instead.

PlayStation 5 & PC

Here’s how to turn XDefiant’s crossplay off for PC and PlayStation:

  1. Select settings in the top right of the XDefiant menu (R3 on PlayStation).
  2. Head to the “Matchmaking & Account” tab.
  3. Switch “Crossplay” from On to Off.

You can also turn off “Input-Based Matchmaking” in this section if you don’t wish to be matched with those on a different input to you, be it controller or mouse and keyboard.

Xbox Series X|S

For Xbox players, here’s how you can turn the console crossplay setting off:

  1. Head to the system settings from the Xbox dashboard.
  2. In the “General” tab, select “Online Safety & family.”
  3. Select “Privacy & online safety” and then “Xbox privacy.”
  4. Next, select “Customised” and then “View details & customize.”
  5. In this section, go down to “Communication & multiplayer.”
  6. Here, you’ll find a tab that says “You can join cross-network play.”
  7. Switch this option from “Allow” to “Block” and crossplay will be turned off for XDefiant.

According to an X post from Mark Rubin, the Executive Producer for XDefiant, the devs are also working on a “console-only crossplay” setting, so that just PS5 and Xbox players are matched together.

Does XDefiant support cross-progression?

Ubisoft stated that XDefiant will offer cross-progression for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. In order to do so, players will need to link their Ubisoft account to their PSN or Xbox account.

You can do so by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Ubisoft Account Management website.
  2. Log in and scroll down to the “Linked accounts” section.
  3. Select “Link” under the platform you wish to link your Ubisoft account to.
  4. Follow the instructions and you’ll be good to go.

You can also do this through Ubisoft Connect by logging into your Ubisoft account when launching the game for the first time. You’ll also need to link your Ubisoft account to Twitch if you wish to get free XDefiant rewards.
