Who is Firefly in Honkai Star Rail?

HoYoverse finally confirmed Firefly as part of the Stellaron Hunters in Honkai Star Rail. They also revealed she’s the one piloting the mechanical armor known as SAM, which many thought would be a separate character.

Firefly’s official description states “she’s afflicted with the agony of Entropy Loss Syndrome due to genetic modification” and “she joined the Stellaron Hunters in search of the meaning of life, relentlessly pursuing ways to defy fate.”

Kafka, Blade, and Silver Wolf are also part of the Stellaron Hunters commanded by Elio, but it remains to be seen if they’ll return to Honkai Star Rail‘s main storyline soon.

Is there a Firefly release date in Honkai Star Rail?

HoYoverse haven’t confirmed Firefly’s release date in Honkai Star Rail yet, but players expect her to debut with the version 2.3 update that’ll arrive in June 2024.

We’ll update this section once HoYoverse confirm Firefly’s release date.

Firefly leaked abilities in Honkai Star Rail

Firefly is a Fire element character in the Path of The Destruction in Honkai Star Rail. This means she’ll deal massive Fire DMG to single-enemy targets and AoE.

Additionally, here are all of Firefly’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail, according to leaks:

  • Order: Flare Propulsion (Basic ATK) – Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy.
  • Firefly Type-IV: Pyrogenic Decimation (Enhanced Basic ATK) – Restores 20% of Max HP. Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy.
  • Order: Aerial Bombardment (Skill) – Consumes HP to recover a set amount of Energy. Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy. If the current HP is insufficient, HP is reduced to 1 when using the Skill.
  • Firefly Type-IV: Dying Star Overload (Enhanced Skill) – Restores 35% of Max HP. If the enemy does not have Fire Weakness, implant Fire Weakness on a single enemy for 2 turns. Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy and less DMG to adjacent enemies.
  • Firefly Type-IV: Complete Combustion (Ultimate) – Enters the Complete Combustion state, Advances Forward this unit’s Action by 100%, and gains Enhanced Basic ATK and Enhanced Skill. In this state, SPD increases. When using Enhanced Basic ATK and Skill, increases DMG dealt to Weakness Broken enemies and Weakness Break Efficiency, lasting until the current attack ends. A Complete Combustion countdown appears on the Action Order bar. When the countdown’s turn begins, SAM exits the state. The countdown has its own fixed SPD of 90. When in Complete Combustion, SAM cannot use the Ultimate.
  • Chrysalid Pyronexus (Talent) – Received DMG decreases with current HP. The received DMG decease effect reaches its maximum decrease when current HP is less than or equal to 20%. When maintaining the maximum received DMG decrease effect in the Complete Combustion state, Effect RES increases.
  • Δ Order: Meteoric Incineration (Technique) – Leaps into the air and moves without restrictions. Lasts for 5 seconds and can be ended prematurely via Basic ATK. When the duration ends, SAM descends and immediately attacks all enemies within a set area. When each wave begins, implants Fire Weakness on enemies without it for 2 turns. Then, deals Fire DMG to all enemies.

Firefly/SAM sounds like an extremely powerful character that can build an interesting synergy with many other units. Players already faced the powerful mecha as a boss, so they know how some of her abilities work in the game. However, the 2.3 beta just started, which means the devs can still make some changes to Firefly’s kit before her official release.
