XDefiant launches on May 21 and eager players can preload the game to ensure they can drop in as soon as the servers go live. Here’s how to preload XDefiant on all platforms and the date it’s available.

After multiple delays and plenty of patience from the community, XDefiant‘s full release finally arrives on May 21. If you’re one of the many players who can’t wait to get in, choose a faction, and take to the battlefield, you can preload the game in advance so you don’t need to wait around on launch day.

Here’s how to preload XDefiant on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

XDefiant preload date & time

XDefiant will be available to preload on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT / 6 PM BST, five days before the official release date. This gives you plenty of time to download the file, meaning you can jump straight into the action when servers go online on May 21.

How to preload XDefiant on PC

PC players can preload XDefiant by heading to the official Ubisoft store and downloading it from there. Unlike many other PC releases, there is no Steam version of the game, so you’ll have to download it using the publisher’s own platform – Ubisoft Connect.

How to preload XDefiant on PS5

To preload XDefiant on PS5, simply head to the game’s PlayStation store page and select ‘Download.’ Since the shooter is free-to-play, there is no need to pre-order it in order to access preloads like you would with paid titles.

How to preload XDefiant on Xbox Series X/S

Much like the PlayStation version, head to the official XDefiant store page on Xbox Series X/S and hit ‘Download’ to start the preload. Once this is done, you’ll be able to track the progress of the install from your Libary, or even pause it briefly if you need to free up some bandwidth.

XDefiant file size

XDefiant’s file size is around 65GB according to the official system requirements. However, keep in mind that this figure is recommended to run at 1440p or 2160p on high-end PCs, so the actual download could vary on consoles or less powerful rigs.

Although 65GB isn’t too big by modern standards, it’s still best to get the installation done well in advance, especially if you have slower internet. This way, all you’ll need to do come May 21 is fire up the game and start the grind.
