Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can take on some of the most powerful Pokemon in Tera Raids and add them to their teams to ace any battle.
Let’s get into the Tera Raid Battle schedule in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, including how to take part in the upcoming Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns events.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Sandy Shocks & Iron Thorns 5-Star Tera Raid Battle event dates
The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 5-Star Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns Tera Raids will take place from May 23 at 5 PM PDT / 8 PM EDT / 1 AM BST (May 24) to May 26 at 4:59 PM PDT / 7:59 PM EDT / 12:59 AM BST (May 27).
Sandy Shocks will be the Raid boss for Pokemon Scarlet players, while Iron Thorns will appear only in Pokemon Violet. There won’t be another run for these Raids, as they’re not 7-Star events.
The Raid bosses will have different Tera Types, depending on the events you tackle. They won’t have the Mightiest Mark, so trainers can catch as many as they can during that weekend.
What are Tera Raid Battles in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Tera Raid Battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet allow players to join a team of four trainers to defeat a strong Tera Pokemon. These battles will highlight Pokemon with rare Tera-type combinations.
The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet blog explains, “The Tera Raid crystals related to these events may look ordinary at first glance, but they are shrouded in a mysterious aura.”
There are two types of Tera Raid Battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Standard Tera Raid Battles will appear as ordinary crystals as you approach the location in-game.
Meanwhile, Black Tera Raid crystals indicate that the Pokemon is incredibly powerful. It could have unique moves and Abilities, which means better rewards are up for grabs.
Keep in mind that you can only catch one Black Crystal Tera Raid Pokemon per event. In addition, only players who have completed the three main story paths and The Way Home bonus quest will be able to access the Black Crystal Tera Raids.
